My sister Kay and I want to extend a special invitation to you to visit our home in Snow Camp. This house was the homeplace of my paternal grandmother (and I think goes farther back than that) and is the place my parents bought when newly married. There are 40 acres of land and a newer house they built in 1963. Kay and I lived in this house up until that year. The place had become a "storage" building for all the treasures you think you might need as some point. The summer of 2008 I decided that we needed to restore the old house. So we cleaned out the house, tore off the shingle siding, rented a huge dumpster, tore out linoleum from the kitchen and hall floors and countertop to find beautiful hardwood floors like the rest of the house had. It became a "family obsession" of sorts for our entire families as we began working there as many days each week or on the weekend as we could. December 2008 we held our first annual Christmas gathering there and did the same Christmas of 2009.
Walk back in time with us to a little 1 1/2 story house with no running water currently - complete with chamber pots and minimal electricity.
