This young lady was my favorite of the Moon-Perrett bunch - probably because she treated me and my sister as her own children. At any rate, I have many memories as a child with she and Uncle Clyde. Lena Nora Keller Moon was born on March 29, 1911 in Snow Camp, NC. She died on June 1, 1991 in Burlington, NC. Lena married the love of her life, Albert Clyde Griffin but was unable to have children of her own. In her later years she remarried (and I won't elaborate on that disaster).
The Moons lived at Midway when Lena was a young woman - the half way spot on the plank road that connected Burlington to Graham. Sunday afternoons, Lena would dress up and sit on the front porch of their house. According to Lena, their daddy - whom they called Poppy, told her to "just get out in the middle of the road - they would have to stop then or go around her". Lena was a joy to be around - get her and Clyde started and it was nothing but fun.
